Mentoring Spotlight: Megan & Marisol

In 2015, Marisol was a quiet 3rd grader at Glenn O. Swing Elementary when she was matched with her mentor, Megan, through Partners For Change. What began as weekly lunches and conversations quickly grew into a relationship that would help shape Marisol’s future.

Over the years, Megan was there for the moments that mattered most: picking out a prom dress, helping her land her first part-time job, graduations, and life’s biggest decisions. She offered encouragement, guidance, and a steady presence as Marisol grew from an elementary school student into a confident young adult.

But their relationship became more than mentorship. Marisol became part of Megan’s family—sharing vacations, holidays, milestones, and everyday moments with Megan, her husband Brandon, and their three daughters. Megan wasn’t just someone who showed up for scheduled visits; she showed up for life.

Today, their bond is a powerful example of what mentoring makes possible. Through consistency, trust, and care, one relationship helped open doors, build confidence, and create a lasting sense of belonging.

Marisol and Megan’s story reflects the heart of Partners For Change’s mentoring program: when a caring adult shows up and stays, it can change the trajectory of a young person’s life—forever.
