This summer, Newport Summer Programming students brought creativity, confidence, and plenty of laughter to the stage with their performance of Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up!) by Ed Monk.

The Ludlow SHINE program lived up to its name this summer, giving students a season filled with learning, creativity, connection, and fun. With an Under the Sea theme guiding the summer, students dove into hands-on activities, strengthened academic skills, explored new interests, built friendships, and stayed engaged while school was out.

This summer, SOAR provided students with three weeks of engaging, hands-on learning experiences that combined academics, career exploration, community involvement, and memorable field trips. Each week centered around a different theme, giving students opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with one another.

The President’s FY27 budget proposal, released April 3, would eliminate dedicated 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) funding and replace it with a consolidated block grant—impacting afterschool and summer programs as early as 2027.
