Partners For Change Shining Lights On Afterschool

On October 23, Partners For Change will join thousands of organizations across the nation in celebrating Lights On Afterschool—the only national rally for afterschool programs. This year, we’re highlighting the power of out-of-school time programming with a special bus tour across our River City school districts, showcasing afterschool programs in Ludlow, Newport, and Covington.

Out of school time programs provide students with so much more than a safe place to go—they spark learning, foster creativity, build teamwork and life skills, and connect young people with mentors and opportunities for the future. From homework help and STEM projects to arts, sports, and career readiness, these programs help kids thrive.

As we celebrate this year, we also recognize the urgent need to expand access. Studies show that nearly half of all children not currently enrolled in an afterschool program would participate if one were available. By turning the lights on, we’re raising awareness of the impact these programs have—and the importance of keeping them strong for years to come.
